Lhota & Associates, P.A. is a full service intellectual property law firm. LHOTA is a registered patent attorney and Florida Bar Certified Expert in Intellectual Property having substantial experience in the patenting and trademark process, litigation and electrical engineering. Mr. Lhota has broad patent prosecution experience in the electronics field, including software, control systems, cellular communications, pager technology, computers, local area networks, server data traffic management, intelligent controllers, electro-hydraulic and pneumatic control systems, automated measuring instruments, radios and medical instrumentation. Mr. Lhota has also litigated patent, trademark and copyright cases in Federal Court. In addition, he has represented clients in negotiating and drafting intellectual property related licenses and other contracts.
DAVID P. LHOTA P.A. was born in Columbus, Mississippi in 1965. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Tulane University in 1987. While at Tulane, Mr. Lhota was a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Mr. Lhota received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Miami School of Law in 1994. While at the University of Miami, Mr. Lhota was a legal and technical intern for a local firm and assisted in the preparation prosecution of hundreds of patent applicants. He was also a member of the law school’s Intellectual Property Law Association, and was a student member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association. Mr. Lhota is a member of the Florida Bar, a Florida Bar Certified Expert in Intellectual Property, a registered patent attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Southern most Districts of Florida and the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Mr. Lhota is also a member of the American Bar Association, the Broward County Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the Patent Law Association of South Florida.Prior to law school, Mr. Lhota was an Electrical Systems Design Engineer with Sikorsky Aircraft and Hamilton Standard, both Divisions of United Technologies Corporation. While at Sikorsky, he designed and developed software driven electro-hydraulic test systems for is a registered patent attorney and Florida Bar Certified Expert in Intellectual Property having substantial experience in the patenting and trademark process, litigation and electrical engineering.
